Compact rows in Vertical view

I would like to be able to see the whole month without vertical scrolling if there is at most one event on a day.
This requires a compact row format. It could be possible if for example you allowed an event to be displayed on the same row that the date appears, i.e. the row doesn't double in height when there is an event on any day falling on the row. I have hacked an example of what I mean:
